KINAP Environment and Safety Affairs Department

The Environment and Safety Affairs (ESA) Department at Kiambu National Polytechnic (KINAP) works to create a safe, healthy, and green learning environment. We integrate environmental care and workplace safety into daily operations to support climate action and sustainable development.

  • Ranked 1288 out of 1477 institutions worldwide in the UI Green Metric Ranking and position 3 in Kenya.
  • Planted and distributed more than 30,000 tree seedlings.
  • Launched a textile waste recycling program with ACT.
  • Established an e-waste collection point for responsible disposal.

  • Normal waste is collected and disposed of by licensed service providers.
  • Solid waste segregation is being piloted in various departments.
  • Textile waste is collected in partnership with Africa Collect Textiles (ACT) to avoid landfill disposal.
  • E-waste collection points are in place for staff and students, with safe recycling and disposal.
